To ensure the water autonomy of the position, the Germans drilled an artesian well several tens of meters deep.
The water had to be raised using a pump located in a room offset from the axis of the entrance and all protected by a thick concrete (80 cm).
However, in the months following the installation of the pumping system, the samples taken showed that the water extracted was not drinkable and this well was ultimately never used.
The first photograph shows a crater, caused after the war, by the explosion of munitions stored on the site, allowing a view of the side of the structure.
The second photo, taken recently from the same angle, gives an idea of the original appearance.
The lower right part, normally covered with earth, protects the borehole and the pump. The upper left part flush with the ground corresponds to the entrance.
